front cover draft

Making my mock up front cover

This is my original background for my mock up background cover.

I then decided to play around with the colours of my mock up front cover and the contrast of the light and dark of the image.

Here I changed the style/effect of the picture to see the different effects I could make on my front cover mock up.

Here I made the image blurry. I did this to make the the reader feel confused and disorientated and I would have put my main artist/musician in the middle so that it look liked the background was blurry but you could still see the person. The reason behind this was to represent the crazy, unknown strange world we lived in and that only thing's that we know really well, make any sense.

After I had decided on the layout for my magazine front cover I started to make the context, feature stories and masthead to my front cover mock up. As you cans see I have still kept the same masthead/ title 'strummm...' because I have decided, its the best name I can use to work well/ link well with Folk music.

After creating the context and feature stories to my front cover mock up I then decided on where I was going to put my main artist on the front cover mock up. The red circle represents where I would like to pace my main artist/musician on the front cover mock up.

This is my final product. I had to change it because the my original work could not be saved on my USB stick therefore I couldn't finish it off. Also the original girl  I was going to use for my front cover was sick so I had to change the person for my font cover. This mock up has gone wrong but I know how to change it, I used ipiccy instead of Photoshop therefore I couldn't layer the imaged together but if I use Photoshop in the future I will manage this much easily. Also I will be able to make my magazine look more realistic and modern. I think I will use my orinial plan for my mock up 1 so for my second mock up.

Test shots

The close up - In this close up image I made the main focus, the face of my friend. You can see its a close up because it only captures from her neck upwards to her face which ios the main feature.

Long shot/blury - In this image I have put two types of images together this image is a long shot and its blury. We can tell it is blury because we can't actually see any of the features of my friend. Its a long shot image because, we can see all of my friend; head to toe.

Medium shot -  the medium shot shows my friend from her hips upwards cutting out the lower half of her body this is how we know it is a medium shot.

Two Shot -   This is a two shot with two people in it therefore it is known to the editor as a two shot image.

Bad lighting - This is bad lighting because it shows that the lighting has effected the quality of the picture taken, we cannot see the model in the image very well as the lighting does not define her features.

Bad Angle/Extreme Close up - We can see this is an extreme close up becasue the focus of the camera is aimed at the eye and we can not se anything else, also this is a bad angle famed image because the way the camera is tilted to the right. Meaning we cannot see all of the face just half of it, the lighting however is excellent in this image because we can see the definition in my friends face and it highlights her features very well.

content pages mock ups

Mock up  1

Making the mock up 1 )

First of all I decided on the artists I wanted to include in my contents pages and then I began to arrange how I wanted the layout.

After I then decided on the context I wanted in my contents pages. I have also changed some of the layout that I orignally chose.

At the next stage - I started adding context to my magazine mock up for my contents pages. Again you can see that I have rearranged the layout of my mock up of my contents page.

This was my final decision for the layout and context for mock up 1. Here you cans see I have ensured I am happy about the context of my mock up and such like.

This is my final product for my irst mock up; I used publisher to make my contents page but I used ipiccy.com to make the borger and layout/ style of my contents pages. I like the name of my magazine, so I have decided to keep the name 'Strummm..' because it links in with all types of music especially 'Folk' music. I chose people like Leann Rimes, Shania Twain, Jake Bugg etc, because they have all done a type of folk music at some point (or they are connoted with folk music).

                                                                         Mock up 2

The first step to making my magazine contents page, was that I decided on the layout of my contents page and then started thinking about what artists I wanted to include; I chose people such as Bod Dylan, Lone Star, Cliff Richard, Johnny Cash etc.etc.

The next step was to add the context to my contents pages, so I started think aboput what attrcats people intoreading magazines.

The next step was to add more cotext to my contents page, I also made an editors gratitude bit, like they do in some magazines and arranged the images to suit the layout of the magazine.

The next step was to finish the context to my magazine contents page mock up and then I added more style to my contents pages.  Then I sarted arrange what kind of background I want to for my contents pages.

The next step was to decide what kind of border/ style/background I wanted for my contents page. This was my final  product for my second mock up. I used a basic layout style and background so that the main feature's such as imagesd would stand out more. Also I used the information from my focus group research on the layout and context for my magazine conents pages. For this style I wqante to create a vintage look and used old fashioned and countryside singers to create this kind of style. I kept the name 'Strumm...' because I have decide on this being the name I kept.
